Kościelniak once again reaches for what seems to be an "un-theatrical" literary material and transfers it to the Large Stage of the Musical. "The Peasants" is the first attempt to tell this famous reading in a musical way. The text of "The Peasants" still delights with its relevance. The musical will refer to Polish tradition and maintain its literary value. The colorful, Łowicz costumes are extremely plastic and will constitute a beautiful setting for this extraordinary performance.
"The Peasants," a novel by Władysław Reymont, was written between 1901-1908 and published in book form from 1904-1909. The novel depicts the life of the community living in the village of Lipce over the course of four seasons. The issues addressed in the work focus on topics such as peasant themes, the social and economic situation of the Polish countryside, generational conflicts, the inevitability of passing, and the impact of the community on the individual.
In "The Peasants" we find everything that characterizes society and the individual. There is a panorama of diverse characters, behaviors, different motivations for choices; emphasized attachment of people to tradition and the glorification of work, which, although it does not provide a comfortable life, gives it meaning and rhythm. The writer received the Nobel Prize for this work in 1924.
